The most useful application ever

11 08 2008

Yes, indeed. I have found what happens to be the most useful app ever. What happens when you have the ability to read 300 words per minute? You become a knowledge machine. That is what spreeder.com has to offer. As found on the website:

Reading with speed. ‘Nuf said. Actually, the idea behind speed reading is that we can process information much faster than we actually do in real life with a book in our hands. Several factors affect our reading speed, like subvocalization (the little voice inside our heads that reads along with us and slows us down), backtracing (rereading parts over and over again), etc.

So basically, when most of us read, we can hear the words in our head, this means that spreeder lets you break that barrier of only being able to read as fast as you could read out loud. The practical uses of this app are unbelievable. How much would had this helped me if I had this sexy tool in literature class blows my mind. Don’t wait any longer and give it a try.

Friends…

4 08 2008

So here I am, at the end of my journey, at Strawberry Fields on Central Park, NY. Two months and 9 days ago I started my own enterprise to fulfull my dreams. Probably the most important question is; Did I accomplished the quest that made me travel 2,500 miles away from home, family, and friends? The answer is no. Does this make my enterprise a failure? No.

I am here sitting in a bench watching dozens of people go back and forth, and all of a sudden, time seems to slow down. The breeze quiets and I can feel it slowly passing through me. This fresh sensation takes over me and I am in peace.

Now that my journey is over I have learned a lot of valuable lessons. This eye-opening quests have showed things that I would had never realised or discovered in the chair of my computer desk. We are brought upon this world with the sole purpose of enjoying life to the most, making the most of everyday. But the key to be succesful on this is to have the greatest friends and family to enjoy it with and share your emotions.

Our world has a solution

29 03 2008

Every so and often, I can’t avoid stopping and asking myself: What are we doing? There is so much shit going on in the world, so many wars, so many deaths, so many discrimination, where the hell are we going?

There is still a solution to humanity. We must fight for it and the only way we can save ourselves from doom is to change.

Read this brief article about Julio Diaz’s story, I won’t spoil it, but please, read it.

Bigger than Jesus

9 03 2008

The world is experiencing alternative religions such as music bands, sports teams and fictional philosophies.

“The first question that rises about these alternative religions is obvious: why do they develop like this, specifically nowadays? The answer is just as evident: because humans need spiritual relief and hope to cope with the harshness of reality, and the established ones don?t work as well as they used to for this purpose.

These alternatives offer a new gloss of paint to older ideas, sprucing them up and adding identifiable faces. Through this optic, the Beatles become eclectic preachers of humanism and the Jedis are rendered as sword-swinging Buddhist monks. Just compare Yoda to the Dalai Lama, and you?ll find they share teachings, facial expressions, ways of speaking, and awkward grammar. They?re part Samurai, part Gnostic Christian beliefs; they get a religion, however, while the same kind of devotion to sports ends up declared as hooligan zealotry. “

Please read this article by Alex Garcia Topete about today’s alternative religion!

Movies and Video Games.. it’s Friday and I’m sleepy.

26 01 2008

I’ve been wanting to write some reviews for a while now, and I find myself in a cold Friday night and decided to do it.

I saw a lot of movies during the holidays, I had a lot to catch up. But I found two movies that definitely, are two of the best movies I’ve ever saw in my life. I’ll start with the most popular one. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I hadn’t heard of this movie ever before (which I regret), but one day during the vacations, a good friend of mine suggested it and I got myself to watch it.

During the first part of the movie, I got a bit confused, you really don’t know what’s going on. But the music, which is so thrilling and magical, adds a special touch which enables you to continue watching. As the movie rolls on, you start to match the jigsaws in the puzzle, and as the movie goes on, you start to get the complete frame. I don’t know exactly what got me so emotional about this movie, but I suspect it has something to do with how the couple is so different but at the same time they are meant to be together. During all the flashbacks, you really get to see how they really should stay together, and they get the message, and regret the decision they took. I really felt how this two characters were trying to stay together and were willing to try one more time.

I really recommend this movie to those persons that don’t just sit and watch. It’s more for those persons that sit, watch, think and think again.

Another great flick that I was really fascinated for is Primer. One hell of a movie. This is not a Hollywood movie, instead, it’s a movie that was done with a $7000 budget and is very impressive what has been done. I really don’t want to give any spoilers of any kind about this movie, just a very important tip: This is not a regular “Joe’s favorite movie ever”. You have to be ingenious to really find out what is happening and you need to pay a lot of attention. Please, watch this movie and try to pay attention, it’s worth it.

In the Video Games section, I played God of War II. I had always heard great things about the GoW franchise, but since I don’t own a PS2, there wasn’t much I could do. But since a few weeks, I been playing with a PS2 that I borrowed from a friend of mine. God… (pun intended), this game is FUCKING AWESOME. God of War II totally blew my mind of off. It was incredibly great. I haven’t play GoW I, so I wasn’t so sure about going full into the second game, but after a while, I decided to play it anyways. What a game! It’s not too long, so I finished it in a couple of days, but wow, I enjoyed it a lot! Soon I’ll try to get GoW I in my hands and play it.

Talking about Video Games, tomorrow I’ll be doing something I’d never tried before. I’m going to race a friend on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We are setting up two TV’s with two OoT’s ready to be played for about 10 hours. We are racing to see who can finish the game first. I’ m feeling confident that I might be able to pull it off quicker, so lets see what happens.

I have to wake up early tomorrow but I’m planning to sleep after watching No Country For Old Men, which I haven’t heard anything but great reviews. I’m forcing myself to watch it, because I’m so sleepy at the moment…
